[Forgive Rory, this is going to be a little bit Blair Witch. The camera's right up to his face for a bit--wow, screen full of nose--and then he fixes it, pulls it a bit away. He's breathing heavily, and trying to keep an eye on the camera and off beside him at the same time, and when he speaks, he's trying to keep his voice low.]

There...iiiis...a minotaur after me, a minotaur and a...thing. A goblin or something.

[The camera shakes a bit as he turns it to try and film along the wall beside him, the wall he's pressed up against, maaaybe to go around the edge, show around the corner...

And then a brief glimpse of the beasts, sniffing about, before they look straight at the camera, and the minotaur bellows.]

Shit!

[The video goes flailing, wild, Rory is off running again.

Sudden glimpses of narrow streets around him

and the goblin-thing, coming up towards him, hands reaching out toward the camera

and then bits of the city

the ground

up at Rory, from under his chin, he's tripped and he's pushing himself up again

alleyway

sky through the tops of buildings

and then a door, about halfway into frame on an angle, door opens, Rory hustles in and slams it behind him, up some stairs, down a hall, and then he slides down against the wall there, panting, trying to fumble the camera back to face him. He has a bit of trouble framing the words.]

So...what are they? Are they always here? What does this city have against me handing in my CV?! Because it's done this twice, now! I mean, the first time, it was a giant purple dog, and this time it's...those things. I know it's unprofessional, but is there a hospital email I can send it to? Because this is kind of ridiculous.

[A sound off to the side and Rory looks, and then gapes.]

How'd you--!

[His shoulders fall briefly in defeat, and then he scrambles to his feet and runs off again, ending the video with a thumb as he does so.]

[The goblin approaches first, the Minotaur hanging back and watching. Buffy gets it: send in the little guy to see what you're dealing with. The little guy is fast and vicious, dodging out of the way when she slices at it. He manages to knock the scythe out of her hand but that doesn't mean she's defenseless. Buffy turns to fists and feet. A roundhouse kick catches the goblin on the side of the head and it's stunned enough that she moves in, dipping to swoop the scythe up. She doesn't get to it though. He hits her in the jaw with a punch that's harder than she would have given the goblin credit for]

[Oh god, this is simultaneously titillating and worrying. He keeps making nervous moves slightly forward and then stepping back again. He's not comfortable particularly with...well, he feels like he's making her fight for him. But he's not going to be better than THE SLAYER. Not as boring old Rory.

He is getting a stupid urge to see if he can try and get her her scythe back but he KNOWS it won't work. She he just looks and tries not to look and---whoops, he just made eye contact with the minotaur. And he can't keep Buffy between him and it, she's moving, and so is it, oh hell. He starts walking slowly backwards, trying not to provoke the minotaur into charging.]

[The punch knocks Buffy back. The goblin is still coming and Buffy reaches out for the scythe. She catches sight of the minotaur moving toward Rory. The Goblin leaps at her, landing on top of her and sinks it's teeth into her shoulder.]

RUN!

[She yells it frantically at Rory. Her voice is full of pain but she manages to grab the scythe, get it heft up and then with one measured breath she closes her eyes, blocks out the pain and flings it toward the minotaur. To make matters worse, the phantom pains she's been having decide to take that moment to assert themselves with a vengeance. Her abdomen is seized with pain. The goblin is gnawing on her shoulder and it's all she can do to get her hands up around the goblin's throat to rip it's teeth out of her shoulder]

[If only he had something he could USE. If he wouldn't feel like an absolute IDIOT, Rory would start carrying around a...a sword or something.

Right now, he's useless, even as the scythe hits the minotaur and distracts it, he's nearly tilting over the edge to running again, but leaving Buffy here... He takes advantage of the minotaur's distraction to edge to the side a bit more and scoop up a rock from the street, thank god for unpaved pathways. Slayers don't need saving but he will feel AWFUL if he doesn't at least do something to help.

So he opens the mental door, lets himself remember being a Roman soldier, and then throws the rock, perfect aim, to clock the goblin in the head.]

Hey! Hey, over here you....slimy little thing!

[Only, of course, that seems to decide the minotaur, and Rory looks around at it starting to come again and runs, hoping he might have at least helped.]
