That…wasn’t meant to go up there. Just ignore that, everyone.

This is…some sort of social networking thing, is it? It seems like a lot of trouble to go to for kidnapping victims but it could be a big experiment. Another one--big experiment--it’s starting to get just a bit old, actually. Is this one of the ones I get an explanation with? It…would help if someone could, cheers.

Alright, I give up, how do I switch this over into actually being a phone again?

[ooc: Rory is standing in what he thinks is an an unnoticeable section of the Square, slightly hunched into himself with his back against a wall. He's got his Blackberry up to his face, but he's mostly looking over the top of it, trying to not look nervous. Approach him if this pings you, or if you just want to, I guess!]

Can't leave. Basically. Some people do go home eventually, but no one knows how or when. Some people are here for a month, others four years.

[Rory feels a bit of panic rising in his chest--what if he's trapped here forever! Away from AMY, away from the Doctor, away from Leadworth and AMY, away from his mum and his mates and his job and AMY--and has to swallow and regulate his breathing. Four beats, in and out, breathing through his nose. He can wait, he will wait, however long it is, it's not as if he can't do that.]

Is there...is there a pattern to it? People...leaving. Or. Anything?

Right. Of course. [He squeezes his eyes shut for a moment before opening them again and giving Stephen a quick smile.]

You said you were looking for someone, right? Do you know they're here?

Did--oh. Yeah. Amy. Amy Pond. [And, alright, because the fact makes him so happy, he adds it. He can't resist.] My wife. She isn't here, is she? I haven't found her. Yet.

Amy Pond. Red hair, Scottish accent? Yeah, she's been here a few days now.

She's your wife?

Oh. That's her, yeah. [A proper smile spreads a little bit nervously across his face, though he doesn't say "Good". It...technically isn't, after all, they're still trapped here. But, well, they're neither of them alone, at least, and if Amy came here first, he's glad he can be here with her.

And then his smile becomes a bit more relaxed and genuine.]

Yeah, she is.

[Okay, so Stephen is a little impressed.]

Not bad, man.

Well she's definitely around. Keep trying the network, it's the best way of getting in touch with people around here.

[Proudly.] Thanks. [And then with a bit more amusement:] It took aaages.

I will do. Thanks for helping. [Wait.] You don't know how to switch mobiles back over to mobiles, do you?

[Stephen glances over at Rory's Blackberry.]

That's a cellphone? Why doesn't it have any buttons?

Because it's a touchscreen, look. [Oh.] I guess that means...you probably don't know, huh?

Touchscreen? Cool, man. I've seen touchscreen computers, but not cellphones.

It can be a bit fiddly sometimes, but it's a good phone.

[Stephen glances with interest at the phone.]

You must be from the future, then. Please tell me someone invented hoverboards before a touchscreen phone.

No, they haven't, sorry. Not...as far as I know, anyway. [Rory holds out his phone for Stephen to look at if he wants. And it's thanks to all the time travel that he just...takes this as ordinary, all of this.] I'm from 2010, but my mobile's from 2008.

Seriously. How much technology do we need to invent before we get hoverboards?

[Stephen takes the phone and gives it a cursory glance.]

Well, I guess these are something to look forward to in the future. It was 2005 when I left.

I don't know, but I practically fall off skateboards, so I'm not exactly sure I'd be able to really...properly take advantage of a hoverboard.

[Rory shrugs.] Yeah, it's alright. That's not too far off from me at all.

And you're from England, right? Not some, like, alternate universe England?

Yes, I'm from England. [Pause to momentarily consider.] Though...that doesn't mean I'm not from an alternate universe to you.

I guess that's true.

You guys don't have zeppelins, do you? That's usually how you can tell an alternate universe.

Nope, not from Steampunk England. I mean, zeppelins do exist but we use aeroplanes.

Too bad. I'd ask who Prime Minister is, but I wouldn't know who it'd be in 5 years, anyway.

[Rory thinks. It has been a weiiird time with Prime Ministers in the last few years.]

2005...it was Tony Blair, here, though he sort of got killed the year after. Bit of a scandal, that. And it's Brian Green right now, though that thing with the kids might come back to haunt him if he tries to get reelected, I'd think.

Tony Blair gets killed? Wow.
