[Rory does his slightly embarrassed sort of half wave at the camera.]

Hey. I just got off work and I've...a sort of strange feeling I've been missing something rather major. [He looks halfway amused and lets the camera drift over each of his shoulders, where there are approximately five million people milling about. Approximately.] Amy, I probably won't be home for a while. Though if today's what I think it is, I doubt you're home either. If anyone happens to be looking for me, anyway...I'm here.

[River...Melody is just going to sort of stand behind Amy shyly as they wait for Rory. It's one thing to meet your mother - the woman who carried and gave birth to you which kind of forms a bond but meeting dad is a little different.]

[ Amy has one hand on Melody's shoulder - it requires a little distortion, what with Melody behind her, but- she's not willing to let go for long. If she does, Melody might leave again. ]

Your dad-- Melody, he's a great man. The last centurion. He and the Doctor, they came for you, for us, to save us-- and when he saw you, he cried. [ Amy's getting kind of mushy herself, now. ]

[If he'd taken the stairs he wouldn't feel so useless, standing about in an elevator. But finally, he reaches their floor, and runs for their flat, fumbling the key into the door and trying to remember to breathe.

He's also trying to make a good sort of first impression but he makes it to the living room, sees Melody, his daughter, hiding behind Amy, and he takes a few steps towards them and then loses his composure. He drags the back of his hand across his eyes and tries to speak without too much warbling.]

Erh...hi, Amy. Hi, Melody. [He walks closer again. His wife and daughter together, he can almost pretend like they won, that they all grew up together like a proper family.]

[Okay, she can't help it. With Amy's words of encouragement she can't help but peek around her mother's legs curiously when she hears the key in the lock. Apparently her father was an emotional man seeing as how he was almost crying - again.]

Hello...dad. [The last part is added on as if she's still very unsure if she should call him that.]

Hey. [ Amy is smiling, and at the same time getting a little choked up herself. She only hides it better than Rory. With her hand still on Melody's shoulder, she steps forward a little, taking Melody with her. ]

And your dad gives good hugs, too.

[Rory is so, so hesitant because he doesn't think he could take it if he managed to scare Melody away. He takes a moment longer, but he crouches beside Melody and sort of...holds out his arms.]

Trust your mum. She knows what she's talking about.

[Their words and their action - Rory crouching to her level - definitely help because she isn't scared of either of them. Madam Kovarian wouldn't have let her be afraid of anything. It's just that she doesn't know how to treat parents who love her and want affection shown. Finally she moves out from behind Amy to walk over to her father's open arms. Once their she'll wrap her little arms around his neck.]

[ And, yeah, okay, Amy has to look away for a minute because that, right there. The man she loves, and their daughter, it's beautiful and heartwrenching at the same time, because Melody will probably leave and the mere thought of that hurts.

Instead, she drops down on her knees as well, the second time today, and hugs them both. ]
