Deities [Off-Network]

The Deities are a group that are very probably in charge. And if they're not in charge of everything, they're at least in charge of some things.

Things they are in charge of

Trades: You can get things from the deities if you want to make a trade. [Yagami, p. 3] However, they are going to try to cheat you out of some pretty important intangible things, like memories, or your sight. And they can pretty much always set the price, because they hold the power.

Being Nasty: If you start disrespecting them obviously, they apparently hand down punishments. [Friar Carl, p. 4]

Fixing things sometimes (but not always): Apparently, there was an incident with zombie sheep, where in the end, the Deities helped dispose of them. But when I asked one of the deities, Laszlo, directly about helping directly, or by giving a hint about how to fix the Clock that had stopped ticking, or the monsters coming out of the Underground, he refused. Instead, he dumped all responsibility for patching things on me.

Things they are not in charge of

The City: At least, I don't think so, and Laszlo implied as much. "how do you know we're in charge here? How do you know that we live here? How do you know we won't pull up stakes? After all, I wasn't here until I was dumped here." [My May 9th entry to the Network] He said he was "transferred". He also said that he helps out "more than [I] could even begin to realize" but I don't think that means he's actually in charge of much. Besides that, apparently, at one point, a deity said “I am not as high as one can go in this hierarchy", as well as an "agency" they come from, and beings showing up with more power than the deities. [Friar Carl, p. 4]

I also don't believe they control the curses. This doesn't mean I think the curses tie into the whole...fueling the clock through misery thing, but I don't think the deities are doing it, really.

Deities I've discovered

Dr. Laszlo Jamf
Professorial type, possibly scientific, incredibly smug. Might tie into my whole...sort of Time Lord theory, come to think of it. He threatened to keep my brain in a jar for asking questions about the City, and answered none of them. Probably likes seeming really enigmatic.
